21 Days to Holiday Hotness

Since December can be a really tough month to keep the eating and drinking under control during all the gatherings and parties I decided once again like last year to join the Fit Yummy Mummy – Holiday Hottie Challenge.

My very visual countdown calendar that is affixed to my bedroom wall where little hands cannot tear it down.  I shaped it like a Christmas Tree in the spirit of the holidays!

I love joining the challenges as they keep me accountable and motivated to eat right and keep up with my workouts especially around the holidays!  Another reason I am doing this is I am having minor surgery on Dec 10th which will keep me from my regular workouts for 2 weeks after!  With me being in this challenge I am hoping it will keep my eating in check and I will find other non impact ways to exercise during it.  Although I will miss my intense workouts!  I have been told that I will have to do A LOT of walking so that will be a good way to keep me active.

This challenge also incorporates a mini Burpee Challenge which I have taken on until my surgery.  I LOVE Burpees so I really wanted to participate in this if only for the first week.  The Challenge is a mix of 3 different Burpee workouts alternating with 50 Burpees for time to track your progress.

On Sunday I took my Burpee test and managed to complete 50 burpees in 3 minutes and 40 seconds.

Man it was tough!

Yesterday was Day 1 of the Challenge.  I woke up early and got my strength workout and my first burpee workout done.

This time was a little bit better but the Burpee workout gives you a bit of a rest between sets.  Makes it easier but it is still tough!

BREAKFAST

Needed to be quick since my mornings are pretty rushed trying to get Jaxin off to school.

I had a Sprouted Grain bagel topped with Peanut Butter and banana.  Also had a coffee, water and my vitamins.

Once Jaxin was in school Zaxari and I did a few errands.

Since I did my meal plan on Sunday.  Monday morning I headed out to Costco to pick up a few things to make sure my fridge is stocked with healthy eats!

I love Costco!  This trip I actually got what was just on my list and nothing extra which is what usually happens.  But I did not have a lot of time to dilly-dally since Jaxin is only in school for a couple of hours before I have to pick him up.

LUNCH

I am trying to make sure that my lunch and supper’s are a combination of protein and LOTS of veggies.

Baby Kale
red pepper
snap peas
grape tomatoes

Which I added to a stir-fry with leftover shrimp and some quinoa that I had pre-cooked and had in the fridge.

It was so darn good!  Made even better by topping it with my one of my favorite sauces.

Frank’s RedHot not new…but I have found the love for it again…I love spice with my meals lately!

In the afternoon Jaxin had a speech appointment we went to.  When we got home I needed a snack.

In the afternoon sometimes I crave something sweet so I have been really loving having some baked sweet potato topped with almond butter and cinnamon.  So good!

SUPPER

While I made supper I snacked on a few baby carrots.

I made Baked Bite-sized Meatballs. I love them!! so easy to make and so full of flavour.  I like making them with ground beef or turkey.  Tonight I used our ground beef from our huge freezer stash!

My after dinner dessert…two gooey Medjool Dates with a cup of tea.

A healthy way to calm that sweet tooth!

Well that was yesterday…today is another story I will save for later.

What a terrific effort babe!!! You are the burpees Queen!!! Is there a prize for the winner that does the most in the shortest period of time??? Keep rocking it!!! Your meals look amazing and you are such an inspiration. XxD

Thanks Dani! The burpee challenge is a mini challenge within the Holiday Hottie Challenge. It is just a motivator and a fun challenge with yourself to see how you improve over the 21 days. I have always loved burpees and usually incorporate them into my intervals.
