Good evening lovely’s!
My afternoon was great! No agenda just hung out a bit and had a nice lunch.
In a whole wheat wrap I put a veggie burger, hummus, salad greens and some tomato. It was delish! I also had a peach and the rest of my blueberries. It was pretty filling!
This afternoon I had to go and take my new jeans to the tailor. The waist needed to be taken in a bit. This always happens when I buy jeans I am hour glassed shaped not straight! So when I go to bend over my butt hangs out! So I always have to take them in!
At this time it had been awhile since lunch and I was feeling a bit hungry so I took a big jug of water with me and a Glo Bar.
While I was at the mall I browsed a bit and got myself a Grande Skinny Carmel Latte! LOVE these they are my favourite!
When I got home my hubby wanted to try our new fruit I purchased at the Farmers Market.
Dragon Fruit!
It was very easy to cut and scoop out the flesh almost like a melon. The taste was light, sweet and refreshing. I quite liked it. But this is not something I would purchase all the time they are quite expensive! But as a treat once in awhile is ok.
Tonight I really did not feel like cooking and was craving some sushi so we went as a family to our favourite place Globefish. We usually only go out to eat once a week so we make it special.
Not sure where my head was at this time…probably on the sushi placed before me but I did not take one single picture of the scrumptious meal that we had. DOAH! When I am at home the first thing I do is pull out the camera and take pictures before I eat but when I go out…I just totally forget! I have to work on this!
Well I can tell you what I packed into my tummy though!
I started with
MENTAI CALAMARI
Deep fried marinated squid served with Japanese spices & our special sauce
I shared this with my hubby.
Then I had this roll
IGINLA ROLL (named after our Calgary Flames captain Jerome Iginla)
Breaded jumbo prawns, salmon, red tuna, avocado and cucumber with masago roe.
I washed all this down with a small Sapporo! Let me tell you I was stuffed by the time I was done! I did not go light with this meal. My feeling is when we go for sushi I get what I want so I can enjoy my weekly treat!
When we got home I quickly laced up my runners, stuck J in the Chariot and was off. I needed to get some broccoli and milk for J from the grocery store so we walked there. It was just what I needed after my big meal. Plus it was such a nice evening for a walk.
When I got back I put J to bed and got started on my Sunday breakfast early! I am doing a little Barefoot Contessa recipe inspired breakie for tomorrow. On Sunday’s sometimes I like to go gourmet!
I am making two items from her at home cookbook. The first being these..
This was my first time making scones and I must say they turned out fan-tas-tic! It was fun to do! I decided to make these tonight since they are a little involved and take a little time to make.
Again they turned out wonderful and look pretty professional if I do say so myself!
I of COURSE tasted one and OMG!! Flakey, buttery and just a hint of orange flavour! So darn good!
Up close shot of the flakiness!
You just cannot beat butter in baking it just makes everything taste so darn good! And let me tell you these little babies have butter in them!
I must say every time I have made something from this cookbook it has turned out great. The recipes are simple and no real fancy ingredients. I love this book when I want to do it up special! I also never try and make the recipe healthier when I do her recipes they just don’t turn out right. So when I use this book I always know that it is not going to be on the healthy side.
The other dish I am making I will share in the morning…it looks like it will be pretty darn good too!
I love baking but the clean up sucks!
Well it is late and I need some sleep…good night!

Where’d ya get those “phab” heart-shaped plates?? Enquiring minds want to know!!
I got those from Sur la table when I was in Las Vegas.
