Yesterday we ventured out in the rain. It was a bit soggy and misty but not too terribly cold thank goodness. With our rain coats and an umbrella we were good to go.
We got ourselves on a water taxi and headed to Granville Island. It is just across from Vancouver.
We hopped in and we were on our way.
It was a nice little trip. We got to see the view along the shore as we tugged along.
Lots of very tall apartment buildings surrounding the water.
and the reason for our trip! A walk through the Granville Island Public Market and some lunch!
This place is a foodie’s dream! If I lived close to a market like this I would be in heaven! and probably a little plump!
We walked around and bit first to see what this market had….and it was incredible!
I had so much fun just walking around and looking at everything…it was a great way to spend a rainy day.
So many different kind of olives…
Very fresh BC Salmon.
So many different kinds of fresh pasta….I wish I could have taken home with me!
All kind of pastries, cookies, and desserts! I was drooling!
After a bit of window shopping we decided on some lunch.
I had a bagel with smoked salmon and cream cheese topped with red onion and capers. It was delish! Hello my appetite is back!
Before we left I made a little purchase.
I got a box with 15 pieces. This will be savoured over time!
The hardest part choosing which ones that I wanted. They all looked so good!
Me happily digging for my wallet to pay! HA!
Next we needed to get back to the mainland we had a spa appointment scheduled for the afternoon!
We found the water taxi that would just zip us over to the other side. The ride lasted about 5 minutes!
We were a little early so we scouted out a place to have a relaxing drink. We managed to come across a very nice and cozy Restaurant/Lounge called NU right on the water front.
I had a lovely glass of red wine.
The hubs had a drink called VDQ.
The waitress was new and was not sure how to make it but she gave it a try and it came out pretty darn good!
We sat an relaxed and munched on a few pretzels while watching the drizzling rain through the windows. They were playing a really nice jazzy type music and it was just so relaxing!
After our drinks it was time to head over to the spa. It was just a few steps away.
I found this place on the internet and it seemed nice with good reviews so I booked an appointment for us. We had the Spa Duo which is a foot soak, mini facial and relaxation message for two….it was perfect!
Once my tootsies were in the warm foot bath and I was in heaven!
The facial and message were wonderful and so very relaxing! It was a great way to spend the afternoon.
After our treatments we had a complimentary glass of champagne and a few little snacks of banana chips, apricots and nuts.
Now after my treatment I was now make-up-less and my hair was wet from showering off. So I snagged my hubby’s toque and we were off. When we walked out of the spa it was raining a little bit heavier.

On our walk to the water taxi we saw these huge leaves and just had to take a picture. We are from Alberta and you don’t get pretty leaves like these!
We caught our water taxi and we made our way back to our hotel to get ready for supper.
We did not go far for supper just across the street to a lovely restaurant called the Players Chophouse. It is owned by a couple of the BC Lions football players.
The restaurant was lovely and had a nice warm romantic glow to it.
I started with a glass of red wine.
The hubs had something called a Blueberry Long Island Ice Tea.
It was blue that is for sure….but apparently did not taste at all like blueberries…hmmmm.
For supper I went with a 6oz filet mignon with scallops. I have not had beef for a little while so it sounded good.
It was served with garlic whipped mashed potatoes, pea puree, broccolini and squash. I ate every last bite it was delicious! There was a roasted tomato on top of the steak that was oh so good!
When I returned from the washroom the hubs had ordered some dessert!
Crème Brulee! I was pretty full from my meal so I only had about two bites. It was pretty good but the sugar on the top was a bit over done.
Despite the rainy day we had a lovely time and it was great and relaxing. Now I need to get my butt in gear for today’s activities we have planned. Today is the last day of our vacation and it is back home tomorrow.
I will probably not post again until I am home.
So be back in a day or two!

Ummmmm. The yam fries look amazeballs.
