Christmas Crack

This stuff is beyond ridiculously good!! When you start to eat it is pretty hard to stop the reason I call it Christmas Crack…because it is totally addictive!  This treat is a must on my Christmas baking list.

It is very easy to make with only 4 ingredients it is practically effortless.  I have been making it for Christmas for years now and it never fails everyone loves it!  I like to give it away as a gift packed into cute little cellophane bags.  Make sure to keep it frozen when storing and keep it cool while transporting so the chocolate does not melt.

  • 1 sleeve of regular salted soda crackers (i.e. premium plus)
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

  • Christmas Crack 2

Preheat oven to 350F. Line a 13 x 9 inch pan with parchment paper for easy clean up. Arrange crackers salt side up evenly in pan. In saucepan over medium heat melt butter. Stir in brown sugar until melted and smooth. Bring mixture to a boil, whisking constantly, until mixture is smooth and bubbly. Boil for 2 minutes and then pour mixture evenly over crackers. Bake in oven for 5 minutes. Sprinkle chocolate pieces evenly over caramel mixture. Return to oven just long enough for chocolate to melt. Spread chocolate evenly with spatula. Place pan in refrigerator or freezer until chocolate is firm. Cut or break into pieces.

I always put it into the freezer when it is done.  It speeds up the process! Plus I love to eat this treat frozen…mmmmmmm!
