My little helper

Aug 29

Boy oh boy did it feel like fall today.  I got up bright and early at 6am to go for a quick run of 4KM with my running buddy.  She is training for a half marathon and I usually tag along with her on her runs.  Today it was a long one for her of 17KM but I just did the first 4km with her.  I really have no aspirations to run as far as she is going to.  But I truly commend her for it because it takes A LOT to push yourself that far!  You go girl!

When I got up I looked at the temperature outside so I could decide what to wear for my run and discovered that is was only 7 degrees and overcast.  It was a bit chilly starting off but I quickly got warm.

When I returned home I was a little cold and a little tired so I went back to bed and slept for another hour.  It was lovely!  When I got up I was still chilly so I took a hot shower and got dressed.

My day was pretty low key today, however, I did got an get a nice warm drink to start my day with!

IMG_1444 A Pumpkin Spice Latte!  I got an email from Starbucks saying that they had the flavour and to ask for it.  So that is what I did…it tasted like Fall in a cup!  So yummy!

The rest of my day was spent doing laundry with my little helper.

IMG_1442 J’s loves to help me with the laundry now. So I let him empty the basket into the washer.

IMG_1435 He does such a great job.

IMG_1440 It makes him so darn happy to do it too!  I think it is so cute…my little boy is growing up! Sniff!

IMG_1443 In between loads Mommy, Daddy and J curled up on the couch to watch a movie.  A Furry Vengeance.  It was a cute movie and J even sat still long enough to watch pretty much all of it.

For supper tonight I wanted something warm and yummy.  So I made a big pot of tomato sauce and we had it on some whole wheat penne pasta for supper.

I made the sauce first and let it simmer.  I started with browning some ground bison in the pot.  I used my favourite jarred pasta sauce for the base.

IMG_1448 Newman’s Own Marinara…love this sauce.  It has great flavour.

IMG_1446 I dug around in my fridge and “beefed” up the sauce with some veggies.  I used red pepper, onion, mushrooms and a little grated zucchini. I also through in some seasonings of basil, oregano, salt and pepper.

IMG_1451 The sauce turned out great and my bowl of pasta was just what I needed to warm me up on this cold day.  I also added a little spinach chopped up to my bowl.

IMG_1452 On the side I had a warm, chewy and salty Pretzel bun.  These buns are so darn good.

IMG_1456 After supper I had a few raw almond macaroons and a warm cuppa tea for dessert.

IMG_1457 Strawberry/Kiwi flavour..I love this caffeine free herbal tea it smells amazing and tastes amazing too.  So do the macaroons!! YUM!

J is now tucked into bed and the hubs and I are going to watch another movie.  This time a chick flick for me called The Back up Plan with Jennifer Lopez :)

Night all!
