Week 33: My Pregnancy Journey

Sep 14

Week 3…3…that is 33 weeks already!  The countdown is now on for me.  I saw the Obstetrician  today and we discussed my up and coming c-section.  Since I had a c-section with my last birth and because of my “old” age they really don’t want me going past my due date.  I am fine with having another c-section as I did really well last time and healed well and was feeling fine after a couple of weeks.

So the little guy’s evacuation date is OCTOBER 26TH!!   Six more weeks the countdown is on!

I will be getting up extra early and heading to the hospital to have my 2nd child…ack!  However, that is if he does not decide to grace us with his presence sooner.

I have nothing huge to report..but I will fill you in anyway.  The belly of course is growing and bending over is becoming very difficult and uncomfortable now.  By the end of the day my hands and feet and feeling and looking a little swollen now as well.

I also think that my face is looking a little plump as well.  Plus I am looking pretty darn tired these days!  Ugh…sleeping is getting harder because it is getting way harder to get comfortable despite my favourite body pillow!  My biggest problem is my hips really ache after awhile and then laying on my side is not great.  Plus getting up to pee every couple of hours sucks too.

The kiddo is moving around A LOT these days!!  Sometimes I will him to just sit still!  Usually when I am walking around he is pretty quiet but as soon as I sit down the action starts!  Don’t get me wrong I love knowing that he is happy and growing in there but sometimes his kicks and rolls….OUCH!  Plus he gets the hiccups a couple of times a day and sometimes at night when I get into bed.  I don’t mind the feeling of them but his head is so low now that I feel them way down in my crotch!  Sorry if that is too much info but it is the truth!  It gets a little uncomfortable.

I think my cravings have pretty much subsided for the most part.  I still however really enjoy my milk!  I do sometimes get hungry and stay hungry for awhile.  Then I start to snack away.  I try and make sure it is on fruit, yogurt or cheese and crackers something healthy.  Which reminds me my weight is ok I guess I don’t feel like I have gained a lot but as of my appointment today I have gained 30 lbs. since the pregnancy started.  But I know that I am carrying water weight right now because of my hands and feet are feeling swollen, I now get cankles!  If that is an excuse I am sticking to it! HA!

Getting ready for baby

Well the nursery is finally pretty much done.  If he were to show up early I would be dare I say it?……ready!

I went to Babies R Us a few times last week and got the rest of what I needed and finished pulling the room together.  They were having their HUGE baby sale and it could not have been at a better time.  Plus they take Airmiles now so we cashed in big time and saved some money too on the things that I needed wanted.

In this picture is:

Baby swing ~  a nice compact one that is not huge.  I need to conserve space since J’s toys and other stuff inhabits most of my house as it is!)

Baby bouncer chair ~ need somewhere to contain the little guy while I shower or need to be hands free.

2 Crib Organic cotton crib mattress pads ~ these were on sale for a steal!

Bottle/food warmer ~ I needed a new one since J’s was pretty basic and this one does everything which is nice.  Plus it was on sale.

Mirror for the car ~ need to be able to see baby while I am driving!  I am going to need eye’s in the back of my head to keep and eye on J since he will be behind the driver’s seat.  Should be interesting!

Shop & Play grocery cart cover ~ this purchase maybe a little early but it was on sale for 20 bucks and I could not pass it up.  I always wish I had got one for J since I think grocery carts are gross!  Plus it also turns into a little play mat which would be good for traveling.

Head support ~ we did not have this for J when he was born and had to stuff wash cloths and rolled up blankets around his head in his car seat.  This time I wanted to be prepared!

Swaddle Me blanket ~ Love these little blankets these are a no brainer way to swaddle the baby.  I got it on sale for 9 bucks!  I had one for J too so now I have two.

So now some pictures of the nursery!  Looking in from the door way.

The room is small but I think I managed to use the space well.  It is cozy and I like the feel of it.

Looking from the closet side.  I put J’s chair in the room which is a rocker/glider with a footstool.  The chair fits fine but with the footstool it does not really work.  I will have to see when the time comes if I really need the footstool or not.  The one thing left to do is put his name above his crib.  We purchased wooden letters to hang on the wall.  We have not done that yet as we don’t want to reveal the name we have chosen.

Here is the changing station.  We purchased a change table/dresser combo to keep with utilizing the space as much as possible.  I really like it and it should work out great.

I got these cute little black and white animal art cards from Wee Gallery to hang above the change table so the baby would have something fun to look at since you spend A LOT of time in this spot in the beginning!

Above the change table we hung a few shelves that I got from Ikea.

I thought they would be good for little knick knacks and some supplies to be within easy reach for me.

I am posting another picture of the prints that I got framed because I love them so darn much!  They turned out great and go with the polka dot theme of the bedding.

I love the bedding it is so cute.  However, the bumper pads will come off once he starts to sleep in his crib.  I just put them on to take some pictures.  The first few months he will be sleeping with us in our room in a bassinet like we did with J.

I also purchased a bookcase from Ikea for more storage.  In the white boxes I put some blankets and bedding.  Plus I put a basket of bibs there for now as well as I won’t need those right away.  On the top is the baby monitor and the iPod docking station to play soothing music for baby.  I really like this bookcase it works well for what I need and can be used later to store toys and books when he gets older.

So there you have it…the mostly finished nursery.  I am not a interior designer or anything but I think it turned out pretty good.

Now I think I am going to have myself a glass of milk before it is time for bed! Smile
